Polygon Hits 19,000 DApps Milestone, Sixfold Growth in Half a Year

Polygon has hit a new adoption milestone with more than 19,000 decentralized applications (dApps) running on the network, a sixfold increase from 3,000 dApps in October, according to data from Alchemy, the world's leading Web3 developer platform.

There are now 8,000 monthly active teams building on Polygon PoS, up from about 6,000 in January and just a few thousand in October. Many projects are choosing to build solely on Polygon. Alchemy data shows that 65% of the teams integrated exclusively on Polygon, compared to 35% deployed on Ethereum. The figures include dApps running on both the testnet and mainnet.

"Developers can spend thousands of hours maintaining backend infrastructure when they could be innovating and building their applications," said Mike Garland, Product Manager at Alchemy. "We work hand-in-hand with the Polygon team to resolve and mitigate network-level incidents, and Alchemy’s platform enables developers to build products on Polygon in ways they couldn’t before."

Developer activity is the leading indicator of user adoption for blockchains and the uptake for Polygon on Alchemy was soon followed by skyrocketing popularity of new applications in decentralized finance (DeFi) and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the chain. Polygon PoS processed more than 3.4 billion total transactions, with over 135 million unique user addresses and upwards of $5 billion in assets secured.

“The reliability and scalability of Alchemy’s comprehensive developer platform -- from infrastructure and tooling to enhanced APIs and monitoring systems -- is best in class,” said Sandeep Nailwal, Polygon co-founder. “Alchemy gives Polygon developers the infrastructure they need to grow, evidenced by the unprecedented Polygon transaction volumes, with high throughput and low fees.”

Polygon PoS is home to some of the biggest Web3 projects from DeFI protocols like Aave and Uniswap V3, NFT marketplaces OpenSea and Mark Cuban’s Lazy.com and Web3 gaming efforts including DraftKings, Animoca Brands’ The Sandbox and Decentral Games. That vibrant ecosystem is also one of the reasons enterprises like Adobe, Stripe, Telefonica, and Dolce Gabanna are choosing Polygon as their entrypoint to Web3.

The PoS chain is only one part of Polygon’s suite of solutions that also includes Polygon Edge platform for building custom blockchains from scratch, Polygon Avail scalable data availability layer and a number of zero-knowledge solutions will make network congestion a thing of the past first and then tackle applications around privacy. Last week, the team launched the Supernets offering, giving developers access to plug-and-play custom blockchains secured by the Polygon Network.
